Procreate Dreams, a New Animation App for iPad, Set to Launch on November 22

Procreate Dreams, an upcoming animation app designed for Apple iPad, is scheduled to debut on the Apple App Store on November 22, 2023. Developed by the creators of Procreate, a widely acclaimed paid image editing app for iPad, Procreate Dreams aims to provide enhanced flexibility and user-friendliness for crafting 2D animations and videos, catering to both novices and seasoned artists. The app will be available globally for a one-time purchase of $19.99 (approximately Rs. 1,670).

Procreate Dreams introduces features that enable animation via touch and immediate responsiveness to the ongoing playback, eliminating the need for intricate keyframe and path setups. Innovative tools such as ‘Performing’ employ gestures to automatically insert keyframes while recording the animator’s real-time actions. The app’s painting and compositing engine is designed to enhance an artist’s capabilities, offering an extensive selection of Procreate brushes within a new painting engine. It supports larger canvases and provides more layers for creative exploration.

The Procreate Dreams timeline facilitates the fusion of drawing, cel animation, keyframing, video editing, and compositing. The Playhead on the timeline enables precise action addition, seamless navigation along the timeline, and instant movie playback. Apple Pencil can be used for swift content, track, or keyframe selection, followed by simultaneous editing. The app also leverages GPU acceleration built on Metal for smoother performance.

Additional features encompass Flipbook, a modern tribute to traditional animation, ideal for crafting short looping GIFs, intricate character animations, and more. Live Motion and Filters offer a non-destructive workflow, allowing editable keyframes post-insertion. Procreate Dreams boasts the capacity to handle numerous tracks, millions of pixels, and extensive layers with ease.

Moreover, the app introduces a new Procreate file format that enables instantaneous opening of even 1TB files without loading, saving, or export delays. It supports iCloud synchronization, file management, and backups. The eternal undo history is preserved within the file, permitting creators to experiment and iterate without fear of losing their work.
