Vivo has launched its latest software update, Funtouch OS 14, built upon the newly released Android 14. The company has also revealed a comprehensive list of smartphones, including Vivo and Iqoo handsets, slated to receive this update in the coming months. The Funtouch OS 14 introduces a wealth of enhancements and new features, with the beta version rollout starting in October and extending through April 2024.
A standout feature in Funtouch OS 14 is “Smooth Envision,” designed to elevate overall system performance by increasing speed and optimizing RAM usage. For devices boasting 8GB or more RAM, this capability can free up to 600MB of space, enabling seamless multitasking. Additionally, the “App Retainer” ensures that whitelisted apps remain readily accessible.
The “Motion Blur” feature, part of the OS update, promises smoother visual transitions when launching and closing apps, even on models with a 60Hz refresh rate. This update also permits up to 12 small windows to remain active in the background. Funtouch OS 14 supports side-swipe suspension and introduces a non-interactive mini small window mode for monitoring specific apps while concurrently using others.
Users can expect a fresh array of styles, fonts, and themes for the lock screen and always-on display, accompanied by video editing tools that facilitate content creation without relying on third-party applications. Gallery browsing is also enhanced, offering users the ability to control video playback speed and loop videos.
Funtouch OS 14 brings “Smart Mirroring” to the table, enabling screen sharing without exposing personal data in the notification bar. Furthermore, users can opt to protect select photos and videos with added password verification in this update.
Vivo has shared the list of smartphones in India set to receive the Funtouch OS 14 Beta version. In October, Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro will be among the first to experience the update, with other models following suit in the months ahead.
