OnePlus 12 Leaked Render Suggests Wood Texture Finish Ahead of December 4 Launch

Renowned for its diverse textured panels on flagship smartphones, OnePlus appears to continue this trend with the OnePlus 12, featuring a distinctive wood texture finish. A leaked render, reminiscent of the OnePlus One Walnut Wood edition, has surfaced online, offering an early glimpse into the upcoming device. Set to launch on December 4 during OnePlus’ 10th-anniversary celebration in China, the smartphone is already open for pre-reservations in the country. It has been confirmed that the OnePlus 12 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster, shared an alleged image of the OnePlus 12 showcasing a wood-finish rear panel on Weibo. The post, translated from Chinese, mentions, “OnePlus 12 this time has a classic wood grain shell,” hinting at the possibility of a new version featuring a wood-textured back. While the materials used for this special edition remain unknown, it’s plausible that it could involve a wood-textured case. The leaked image implies a design closely resembling the OnePlus One’s Walnut Wood Edition.

Despite the tipster’s post, OnePlus has not officially confirmed these details, emphasizing the need for caution in accepting the information without official verification.

The official launch of the OnePlus 12 is scheduled for December 4 at 7:00 pm local time in China, coinciding with OnePlus’ anniversary festivities. Pre-reservations for the phone have commenced through OnePlus’ official online store and major e-commerce platforms in China. The global release is anticipated in January next year.

Teasers have hinted that the OnePlus 12 will operate on ColorOS 14 based on Android 14, marking it as the first Chinese handset with a 2K resolution display to receive DisplayMate’s A+ certification. Featuring a ProXDR display with a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and house a Sony LYTIA LYT808 as its primary rear camera, which boasts a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.

The OnePlus 12 is expected to sport a 6.82-inch QHD+ curved LTPO display with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,168 pixels. Its triple rear camera setup is rumored to include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, complemented by a 32-megapixel selfie sensor. The device is rumored to carry a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities.
