Elon Musk’s xAI to Integrate with Social Media Platform X and Release AI Model Grok

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is set to become an integral part of his social media platform, X, while also launching as a standalone app. Musk made this announcement on Sunday through a post.

Moreover, Musk disclosed that xAI has introduced its inaugural AI model, named Grok, and made it available to all X Premium+ subscribers last Friday. The primary goal of the startup is to create AI tools that assist humanity in its pursuit of knowledge and understanding. Grok has been designed to respond to queries with a touch of humor.

Musk, who has criticized AI efforts by major tech companies for being marred by censorship, introduced xAI in July, branding it as a “maximum truth-seeking AI” aimed at comprehending the fundamental nature of the universe, thus rivaling Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing AI.

Grok possesses real-time access to information via the X platform, providing a significant advantage over other AI models, as noted by Musk.

X, the social media company formerly recognized as Twitter and owned by Musk, remains distinct from xAI, but the two entities collaborate closely. Additionally, xAI collaborates with Musk’s electric car manufacturer, Tesla, and other companies.

During a recent interaction with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Musk expressed his belief that AI represents the most disruptive force in history. He speculated that this technology would be capable of “doing everything” and could potentially render traditional employment obsolete. These comments were made at the inaugural global AI Safety Summit held at Bletchley Park, England.

In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI, the organization responsible for ChatGPT, a generative AI technology that has garnered significant attention worldwide. However, he stepped down from OpenAI’s board in 2018.
