Self-Development Ai Models are beginning With Internal Services and Products

Chinese company Tencent Holdings on Thursday said it has begun internal testing of its self-developed artificial intelligence (AI) model, which is now integrated into a number of in-house products and services.

In a statement sent to Reuters on Thursday, Tencent said its core AI model called “Hunyuan” has been integrated into a range of products including Tencent Cloud, Tencent Meet and Tencent Docs.

The Tencent Hunyuan mega-model, developed entirely by us from the ground up, has now entered the testing phase of the application within the company,” the company said.

It comes after Chinese regulators released an interim set of general AI rules last month, paving the way for Chinese tech companies like Tencent and Alibaba to roll out AI-capable products. as early as the end of August, after they receive the approval.

AI has become Tencent’s top priority in recent months. Reuters first reported the company’s efforts to develop the Hunyuan model in February. In a call with analysts in May, Tencent said AI would be a significant “growth factor”.

On Thursday, Tencent also listed Tencent Games, Tencent Advertising, QQ Browser, WeChat Search and Tencent Fintech as business areas that have recently tested the Hunyuan model.

“The first effects have been achieved and more businesses and applications are being connected (with the model),” said the Shenzhen-based company.
