OnePlus and Oppo to Unveil New High-Brightness Display in Partnership with BOE

On October 19, OnePlus launched its first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Now, OnePlus is collaborating with its sister company, Oppo, and BOE to introduce a new display set to be unveiled on October 24. The upcoming panel is anticipated to feature a resolution of 1,440 pixels and an impressive brightness of 3,000 nits, aligning with the OnePlus Open’s peak brightness of 2,800 nits.

OnePlus took to Weibo to announce the display launch event, named “SunriseĀ·East,” set to be held in Chongqing, China. The teaser poster hints at OnePlus’s collaboration with Oppo, expressing a message of progress: “SunriseĀ·East! In 30 years, we have gone from lagging behind to catching up to surpassing. On October 24, OnePlus joins hands with BOE to invite you to witness a historic moment for Chinese screens!”

While OnePlus has kept details of the new display under wraps, a reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, suggests that the upcoming screen will offer 2K resolution and 3,000 nits of brightness. The display is expected to employ 2160Hz pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming and single pulse DC. OnePlus is likely to incorporate this BOE display in its OnePlus 12 model.

The recently launched OnePlus Open boasts inner and outer screens with a peak brightness of 2,800 nits. It runs on OxygenOS 13.2, based on Android 13, and features a 7.82-inch 2K Flexi-fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED display with Ultra Thin Glass protective material. Additionally, it supports 1,440Hz pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming and includes a 6.31-inch 2K LTPO 3.0 Super Fluid AMOLED cover display.
